          Richter graduated from Arizona State University in 1964 with a B.A. in History.

          William L. Richter is a retired businessman turned historian, who has written a half dozen books and over two dozen scholarly articles and book reviews.

        1. This one-volume dictionary, with more than entries covering the significant events, persons, politics, and economic and social themes in the U.S. Civil War.

          Richter has researched, written and published almost two dozen articles emphasizing military-civil affairs, race relations, constitutional issues, and Spanish colonial efforts in North America. He has also reviewed a wide range of historical topics for scholarly journals.
